Testing conditions for A Boy Named Suzi
Friday, July 13, 2012
A BOY NAMED SUZI runs in the 12 furlong handicap at York today but will find the ground alot more testing than he has raced on already this season. He did run well on easy ground at Haydock last year over 1 mile 6 furlongs, it was felt that day that he didn't get the trip rather than not liking the ground. More of a concern today is the draw as he is drawn 15 of the 16 runners. When the ground is good or faster this would definitely be a disadvantage but on soft ground the runners may come up the stands side or the middle, if they do then he could be well placed. The horse seems in good form at home since his last race and rarely runs a bad race. It will be interesting for the future to see how he does handle soft going. There is a chance he is equally as good or even better than on a faster ground.
