Overdue success for Karky Schultz

Friday, June 12, 2009
KARKY SCHULTZ has been an unlucky horse in the past but it all went right for him at Kempton on Wednesday evening. He was given an inspired ride by Luke Morris to get his head in front just before the finishing line. Having been drawn on the rail he was settled well in behind and had to wait for opening to make his challenge, KARKY SCHULTZ showed a great turn of foot and stuck to his task well. James Eustace was quick to give credit to the owner, Harold Nass. He suggested trying him over hurdles in the winter and it has been the making of him. His stamina was in doubt but he seems to stay well, Luke Morris thinks he could stay even further than 11 furlongs, the distance of Wednesday's race. He is entered all over the place next week and may run under a penalty but the ground is fairly critical as he definitely needs cut in the ground. As he has now won on the polytrack though it does give him more options. There is also a suitable hurdle race for him at  Market Rassen at the end of the month which could be a possibility if the ground is favourable. He has plenty of options and looks as if he will give his owner some fun during the months ahead.
