RUBY WINE worked very well with WESTER LODGE this morning on the Limekilns gallop in preparation for a return to Newbury on Sunday. She is entered in a listed race over 12 furlongs for 3 year olds and upwards. She will be carrying a penalty for her previous listed success but James Eustace feels she is improving physically all the time and will run a big race. A bit of cut in the ground should suit her but too much rain could be slight cause for concern as she has never encountered very soft conditions. Ted Durcan is all set to ride her again and rode her on the gallops this morning.
WESTER LODGE was withdrawn from Newbury last Sunday because of the soft ground. He is entered for Goodwood this Saturday but the ground could go against him there too and he may not even get into the race. If he doesn’t run at Goodwood he will wait for Bath on August 9th, a track that obviously suits him well as he won there last time out.
Tomorrow evening WHISTLEUPTHEWIND travels to Leicester to run in a 6 furlong median auction race. She will hopefully run a lot better than she did on her debut where she was very green and did not enjoy the all weather surface. She carries plenty of condition so will probably benefit from another run but if she runs like she works at home she should run well.
MISSED TURN has to make the long journey to Carlisle on Thursday as it is difficult to find races for her where she does not get balloted out. She is running in a 35-55 rated mile handicap for 3 year olds only and with a rating of 53 will definitely get a run. It may not be the ideal track for her as it is a stiff track and she seems best suited by sharper tracks. With so few opportunities for her she has to run where she can. She is very well in herself but may just need the race having been given a mid season break. She should hold her own during the remainder of the summer months on fast ground and sharp tracks as she is a very genuine filly who always does her best.
