We have had two very successful, not to mention fun, days at Park Lodge.
Stevie Sanders showed much promise in his first ride at Uttoxeter last Sunday. Stevie came to Park Lodge directly from The British Racing School and has been here just over two years. He has done very well to have his first ride over hurdles in such a relatively short period of time. Stevie obeyed instructions to the letter (always pleasing!) and BAAN rose to the occasion and ran a great race to finish 3rd in the two and a half mile maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter. Stevie acquitted himself well at every stage not just in the race itself. It was particularly pleasing that the starter, Seamus O'Neill, came up to me today at Wolverhampton to say what a nice, polite lad Stevie was and how pleased he was that his first ride had gone so well. Remember the name!
On the equine front, A BOY NAMED SUZI broke his maiden today at Wolverhampton. He shows a lot of promise for the future as he does seem very genuine and looked to stay the mile and a half (his first try at the trip) very well. I am hopeful he can progress from here. It was a very satisfying winner for his owners, Greenstead Hall Racing, as he is a home-bred. The owners also have SUZI'S A CLASS ACT in training at Park Lodge, another three year old who shows much promise for the future. They look set fair for an exciting 2011 on the racecourse.
