WESTER ROSS is running in a 2 mile 5 furlong handicap hurdle at Newbury today, his first run over this extended trip. On his flat form you would think he would stay this far over hurdles but it is a step into the unknown. He has not run for a couple of months, purely because of the weather and the ground, but he can run well fresh. Hopefully he can run a decent race.
KARKY SCHULTZ also runs at Newbury but at tomorrow's meeting. He runs over his usual trip of 2 miles. He seems to have come out of his last run at Uttoxeter well as he was not subjected to too hard a race once his chance had gone. There were too many frontrunners in the race that day and they all cut each other throats. Hopefully there won't be so many wanting to make the running tomorrow. The ground should be fine for him.
WAR ARTIST was a bit disappointing finishing 5th in Dubai yesterday but he was only beaten 3 1/2 lengths and only just missed out on being 3rd. He was also carrying a penalty for his last win so was giving weight to all the other runners. He is now likely to be aimed at the Group 3 race over 6 furlongs on the turf, rather than the Group 1 race on the Tapeta surface, on March 27th.
