WAR ARTIST is already in Germany in preparation for the Group 2 Goldene Peitsche at Baden Baden on Sunday. He is a very well travelled horse already so not surprisingly he has taken the journey well. His owner is from Germany so is obviously keen for the horse to run in his home country. The ground should be suitable for him, it is described as being like a carpet. They have had some rain mid week but has been fine since, let's hope it stays that way. He will be ridden by top German jockey, Andreas Suborics, he knows the track well and has ridden with alot of success for the owner so that has to be an advantage. There are only 8 runners and James Eustace sees the main danger coming from the only other English runner, Lesson In Humility. The horse is in good form and looks better than he did at anytime last year so one has to be very hopeful that he will run a big race on Sunday.
On Monday SALDEN LICHT makes his debut for the yard at Ripon. He runs in mile handicap for horses rated 85-100. The horse is a Listed winner in France and spent the winter in Dubai but didn't run there due to injury. As this will be his first run since then he is likely to need this race. He has a rating of 98 so opportunities are limited, this race seemed a good starting point for him. The mile may be short of his best trip as his Listed win was over 9 furlongs. He will appreciate any further rain that falls between now and Monday.
WESTER ROSS reverts to hurdles at Huntingdon on Monday. He ran well in his comeback race at Brighton, finishing fourth. The form has been boosted by the second horse who has won since. His hurdling form is superior to his flat form so he is expected to run well on Monday. He handles fast ground and has run well on the course before. He has had no recurrence of the bleeding problem that troubled him previously since he returned from a long break.
