WAR ARTIST is in top form and ready to renew rivalry with Kingsgate Native in tomorrow's Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket. He was beaten 1 1/4 lengths at Royal Ascot last time but WAR ARTIST is 1 pound better off tomorrow and could possible have a better draw. He is drawn 7 of the 16 declared runners and on the first day of the meeting the middle was definitely the best place to be. Kinsgate Native is drawn high, on the stand's side. James Eustace believes the horse could even be in better form now than when he was at Royal Ascot but has slight concerns over the ground purely because the horse has never run on soft ground. From work he has done at home he has no reason to believe he won't act on it. In an ideal world he would have loved the ground to have been firm for tomorrow's race. The ground will have dried out considerably today but there is more rain forecast. It is obviously a very competitive race and aswell as Kingsgate Native, James Eustace also has alot of respect for the French runner, Marchand D'Or and for Sir Gerry who was third in the Ascot race. WAR ARTIST has a big chance tomorrow of Group 1 victory and it would be a fantastic result for the whole team to win a Group 1 on the home track.
There is racing elsewhere tomorrow aswell and DOUBLE ON RED is running in the 9pm race at Newbury. It is a 7 furlong fillies handicap and she should run well. She finished third last time out but didn't really handle the surface, she will be more at home on the turf and will appreciate the rain softened ground. The blinkers seemed to help her last time and she will be wearing them again tomorrow.
