BLUE CABLE will be our first runner at Newcastle on Friday since the track has been changed to an all weather surface. She runs in a 7 furlong handicap and is drawn 8 of the 14 runners. We have been quite happy with her first 2 runs but she has had little niggles after each run which has prevented her running sooner after each race. The surface should be fine for her as it is the same as Wolverhampton where she has run well. We think that the straight course should suit her too. The only slight doubt is that this is her first try over 7 furlongs and it is a stiff track but she has looked in both her runs over 6 furlongs that she needs a step up in trip. She seems in good form at home and this looks the ideal race for her so we hope she can get her head in front.
POTENZA also runs on Friday at Haydock in a 1 mile 6 furlong handicap. He is a course winner there over 1 mile 2 furlongs but since he was second at Yarmouth last year he has looked as if he would get further than 12 furlongs. In his last run over that distance at Newmarket he was rather taken off his feet so we do feel that 1 mile 6 furlongs could be his ideal trip. He has been declared to run on good ground but hopefully they will get more rain and the ground will have eased further before he runs on Friday.
