HIGHLAND CASCADE is hoping to make the long journey to Newcastle on Wednesday a winning one. She has run consistently well all season but hasnít had the rub of the green so far. She is trying 7 furlongs again but with different tactics. She tried this trip at Yarmouth in the summer but this time the plan will be to hold her up to try and help her to get the extra distance. The only worry is the ground as she would not want soft ground, if the forecast is correct the ground will be good to firm which will be ideal for her.
Wednesday is a busy day for the yard as there are also 3 runners at Lingfield, all on the polytrack. CETSHWAYO is dropping down in class and runs in a 10 furlong selling stakes. He ran well over this trip in a maiden at Windsor but was disappointing at Yarmouth last time when everything went wrong for him, hopefully he can put that run behind him. Purely on ratings he would have a good chance but his handicap rating is probably on the high side. PLEASING GIFT is running in the 8 furlong maiden race. She ran well over this trip last time out at Warwick but was probably a bit too close to the pace so the plan will be to try and get her covered up this time to help her see out the trip. The third runner is WESTER LODGE in a 12 furlong handicap. He ran well over 10 furlongs in an apprentice race on this surface and the extra 2 furlongs should suit him well. He will be reunited with Jason Tate who rode him to be second as a 2 year old. Letís hope he can go one better this time as he has put in some good efforts this season especially when beaten by the narrowest of margins at Brighton.
On Thursday ANATOLIAN PRINCE will be having his second race of his career at Newmarket. He ran well on his debut at Leicester, just tiring in the closing stages. He has come on for the race and James Eustace expects him to run well. He is a nice horse for the future.
