LONG ISLAND heads for Salisbury tomorrow to run in a median auction maiden over a mile. She is well drawn in stall 1 of the 9 runners and will be partnered by Kevin Stott who will take a useful 3 pounds off her back. She showed a great attitude last time out at Brighton when she was second in terrible conditions. She ran a very genuine and honest race as she had to battle hard up the hill in bad ground to finish second. The form of the race has worked out OK as the winner has gone on to finish second in a nursery off a mark of 72. She has been in good form at home since this run and the step up to mile should not be a problem as there is plenty of stamina on the dam's side of her pedigree. The ground should be fine as she handled good/firm ground on her debut and the track should suit her. The race has been divided and it does not look the strongest Salisbury maiden on paper so we are hopeful of a good run.
